YAMAHA LAUNCHES NEW ENTRY-LEVEL RACE SERIES
It was only going to be a matter of time before Big Blue decided that racing Ninjas was not going to be the only entry-level race series.
So this is how it works:
The base model is the superb YZF-R3. You will recall our video of that HERE.
A road-race kit has been developed for it and the technical regulations are being sorted out in conjunction with Motorcycling Australia.
Yamaha plans to offer the bikes and the kits at price that would be well under the cost of you building a racing R3 by yourself.
The racing itself will be a minimum five-round series as part of the ASBK winter race-fest, with practice, qualifying and three races over each weekend.
The prize for the fastest racer at the end of the comp? A brand new Yamaha R6.
There will also be prizes along the way, and Yamaha will manage promotion and will offer incentives for teams to wear its colours.
Yamaha is seeking expressions of interest, and you should contact Yamaha Racing Devlopment via this email. And tell them how fizzy you are about this beaut new series.
