They are about 80km old here. So still shiny.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

My wife, Lynette, has heard me banging on about Daytona boots for ages. As have you. You\u2019ll recall I told you to throw all your other boots into the bin a while back.<\/p>\n

And I meant it. There are no better motorcycle boots on the planet. This is a simple statement of fact. Daytona boots are handmade in Germany, and because they are made this way, they will last you for years and years. People who buy Daytona boots just don\u2019t buy other boots because\u2026well, they don\u2019t have to.<\/p>\n

If you ride, then you’ll be pleased to see they have all the riding bits needed, and flex well at the ankle.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Feel free to ask anyone who owns a pair, or anyone who works in the motorcycle industry. Daytona make the best bike boots – end of story.<\/p>\n

But talk is cheap where my wife is concerned. She treats most of what I say with a degree of suspicion. The only way I could convince her of the rightness of my opinion on Daytona boots was to get her a pair.<\/p>\n

Enter the Pilot GTX \u2013 specifically made for ladies, who have different-shaped feet to those monstrous meat-plates you rely on to keep you strutting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re\u2026um, kinda rigid and stiff,\u201d she said, hefting them for the first time. \u201cThey look cool, like they don\u2019t look like men\u2019s boots.\u201d<\/p>\n

All new boots feel a bit stiff, and Daytona items are no exception \u2013 especially given their construction, and yes, there\u2019s a metal shank in the sole to stop your foot being folded in half if you have an oopsie, as well as making sure the boot keeps its shape long after you\u2019ve let yourself go for the winter season.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you walk in them?\u201d I asked, as she wandered around the lounge room.<\/p>\n

\u201cSure. But they feel\u2026well, very sturdy. Substantial. I don\u2019t think they\u2019d ever wear out. It sounds strange, but I feel protected.\u201d<\/p>\n

It’s just a quality product. Pure and simple.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s because I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, fool. My feet feel like they\u2019re encased in armour. But it\u2019s an armour that flexes. It\u2019s strange. Not like any other boots I have.\u201d<\/p>\n

We went for a decent ride and I quizzed her as we went along.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo slipping off the pegs?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, none, but stop accelerating so hard. The police will put you in gaol.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAre they giving you blisters and can you dance in them?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI thought they would give me blisters because they\u2019re new, but that\u2019s not happening. And I can dance in anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you sum them up?\u201d<\/p>\n

Non-slip sole? Of course.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t seen a better-made pair of boots in my life. Everything on them looks top-shelf \u2013 the zipper, the Velcro, even the stitching is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re not cheap, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t expect them to be. Are they waterproof?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTotally. Full of Gore-Tex goodness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Compare them to the boots you have now. Please.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cSo this is why you love them, huh?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty much. Look, I know they\u2019re not cheap, but great stuff is never cheap.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have heels I\u2019ve paid twice as much for, and they have a lot less leather on them than these do. These are pretty amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
