Always have, and always will. Part of that I can attribute to a well-spent youth being a menace to polite and civil society.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The other part of that Lizard Brain conversation comes from that eternal Harley cachet \u2013 that \u201cHell to the yes, bitches! The first is the Breakout. The second is this new Low Rider ST \u2013 which, for my money, is the very pick of the Big Twin range when it comes to thundering your bad intentions up the road.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s got the ground clearance, you see. It\u2019s jacked up some at the back (and adjustable for pre-load), and it\u2019s 43mm upside-down forks do a bit more than just nod their head at the handling paradigm.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496119\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496119\" class=\"wp-image-1496119 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/10.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/10-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/10-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/10-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496119\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Note the ground clearance.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Let\u2019s just say that if I was to do a runner one warm and crazy night when the evil of stripper-glitter was upon me, this would be the Harley I\u2019d be doing it on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>See? That\u2019s the Lizard Brain thing right there. It understands Harleys and their purpose in a man\u2019s life. Pity more men don\u2019t listen to it. High beam doesn&#8217;t actually add much to the lumen equation.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>So, apart from driving coffin nails into the beige coffin of motorcycle respectability, what\u2019s this Low Rider ST all about?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, there\u2019s that whole West Coast look popularised by the Sons of Anarchy a few years back, but actually invented by the Hells Angels. That\u2019s the fairing with the tall risers and mid-mounted footpegs thing. And only Harley could pull such a thing off with any degree of elan.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496121\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496121\" class=\"wp-image-1496121 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/13.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/13-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/13-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/13-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>You want chrome, go buy another model.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Your arms are straight out in front of you at shoulder height. You\u2019re looking over the frame-mounted, mini-Hammerhead fairing \u2013 which has three big vents in it, so it\u2019s more a style thing than any serious weather protection. But there\u2019s no buffeting, and it does stop you turning into a windsock over 160.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496122\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496122\" class=\"wp-image-1496122 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/6.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/6-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/6-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496122\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>This, I love. All the info you need lives on the top triple clamp. Very tidy.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>So the Low Rider ST\u2019s touring credentials are there. Add the comfy seat, the beaut, easily-removable panniers (which are bigger than the BMW R18B\u2019s), and you\u2019re good to clock up meaningful miles \u2013 at quite a rate of socially reprehensible knots.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496123\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496123\" class=\"wp-image-1496123 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/8.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/8-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/8-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/8-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496123\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>The panniers are quite roomy, detach easily, and work quite well with the bike&#8217;s lines.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The brakes are fine for what\u2019s expected of them, and unless you\u2019re pushing very hard on variable road-surfaces, you won\u2019t complain about the suspension. The gearbox shifts clean and smooth, and the throttle response is seriously lively. Especially off the lights and when you\u2019re set for some fast overtakes from about 120.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496129\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496129\" class=\"wp-image-1496129 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/7.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/7-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/7-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/7-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496129\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Nothing has changed with the switches. I guess nothing really needs to.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The 117-cube motor is happily not bogged up with Screaming Eagle heads like the CVO iterations \u2013 so the motor is much happier and far more responsive around town. Sure, it might not have the top-end a CVO does, but there\u2019s honestly not much in it. Let me put it this way, if you\u2019ve got your Harley sitting on 180km\/h for a while, there\u2019s a lot going on. And it\u2019s very, very exciting.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496124\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496124\" class=\"wp-image-1496124 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/9.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/9-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/9-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>See the reflection? Nick worked hard for that to happen. Then the security guard came out and told us we were in a restricted area. I wanted to tell him his mother cries when I visit her.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The same can be said for hammering the ST into corners. This is the Big Twin that quite enjoys that. Most Big Twins are only truly happy doing orderly speed-limit parades. Shove some corners at them, and all sorts of rider-panic ensues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Not so the ST. Milwaukee has tried some with this model. Even the forward-facing air-filter horn doesn\u2019t jag or interfere with your right leg like it does on the CVOs. No question in my mind \u2013 the ST is meant to be ridden hard.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1496125\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1496125\" class=\"wp-image-1496125 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/11.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/11-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/11-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/11-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1496125\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>It&#8217;s a compacted Hammerhead fairing, frame-mounted, and something only Harley could get away with. Makes the ST utterly unique.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Of course, all things are relative. \u2018Hard\u2019 on a Harley is not \u2018hard\u2019 on a Panigale. You know that, right? Quite frankly, hard on a Panigale is for very, very few people. But hard on an ST? Step right on up, brother. If you\u2019ve got half an idea, you got this. You some kind of coward?<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>I suggest you look at the ST through the evil eyes of the old school Harley riders who went everywhere in a fast-moving metal hell-storm with knives on their belts, hot bitches riding pillion, and red mischief in their hearts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You see, it&#8217;s really all about how you look at it, and how the ST makes you feel when you\u2019re on it. And we\u2019re back to the Lizard Brain, aren\u2019t we? I liked the hell out of the ST for reasons that will only make sense to people like me. It looks like no other Big Twin thanks to that crazy fairing. It\u2019s painted hate-black, as all righteous motorcycles should be, and the rider ergos are all big-and-fast mile friendly. They\u2019re also very West Coast outlaw correct, which is no bad thing in the Dark Carnival I like to visit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So my Lizard Brain listens to the ST when it speaks. Are you a bitch?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a bitch!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop riding like one then. All the hot girls will be taken if you\u2019re late.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t be late. And how can I even take any of the hot girls home with me? You got no pillion seat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree things are possible, pal. One: You can easily fit a pillion seat. See the covered hole there? Two: She can take a toilet roll to sit on. Three: She can follow you home in a cab and admire your glory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m speeding\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.
