Seemingly not.<\/p>\n<p>And so we come to the 2020 Tracer GT \u2013 the touring incarnation of the MT-09.<\/p>\n<p>For sir\u2019s longer hauls, the GT is fitted with hard panniers, a small but effective screen, and a seat that will not gouge at your bum like it once did.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1494752\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1494752\" class=\"wp-image-1494752 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8583.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8583.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8583-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8583-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8583-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1494752\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Kiddies, a centre-stand is like a race-stand for the engine.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Tear off the panniers, find your favourite Sunday road, and go scare a few sportsbike riders. With a few tweaks to personalise the suspension, the Tracer is well up for some proper hooligan business.<\/p>\n<p>During the week, it is a commuter par excellence. It\u2019s hugely manoeuvrable and slim enough to lane-split, even with the bags on because they don\u2019t extend past the \u2019bars. By that, I mean if you\u2019re a hefty chunk of lad, and you\u2019ve got a hefty pillion, and you need to carry 100kg of crap with you, there are other bikes better suited to your particular needs. Of course ride modes. Three, I believe.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>A solid all-colour TFT dash, heated handlebar-grips, cruise-control, hand-guards, a quickshifter that likes being loaded (rather than you just being too lazy to use the clutch at lower revs), a very reasonable 18-litre tank (easy 300km out of it), a centre-stand, fully adjustable suspension front and rear (with the rear boasting one of those remote twirly adjusters), and a relaxed upright riding position with good leg-room, completes the GT\u2019s touring cred.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1494758\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1494758\" class=\"wp-image-1494758 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8558.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8558.jpg 620w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8558-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8558-559x350.jpg 559w, https:\/\/bikeme.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/810_8558-600x375.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1494758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>The warrior-monk of motorcycle engines. Honest, hard-working, but can belt your enemies if asked.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The headlights are decent, the horn is sallow and eepy, the screen works well even at shameless speeds and doesn&#8217;t vibrate and annoy. Even the menu-scrolly thingy on the right-handlebar wasn&#8217;t too annoying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPASS ME, WILL YOU?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you do like to get on your toes in the championship rounds, you\u2019ll find your heel seems to find the rear-footpeg mount. Just waiting for a hand to fall into.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hard on the gas and that wonderful engine lets you know it\u2019s keen. There\u2019s that almost organic triple-vibe through the \u2019bars; it\u2019s not at all unpleasant or invasive. It just lets you know energetic things are going on. The addition of a hate-spitting exhaust seems almost crucial, in my mind \u2013 and those triples do sound great with a can. Otherwise, just enjoy being left alone by the cops.<\/p>\n<p>Can I fault it? It\u2019s quite a handsome laddie, I feel. Build quality is typically high-end Yamaha.<\/p>\n<p>I know some of you will lament the lack of a top-box. Don\u2019t be like that. Yes, I&#8217;m old.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s a solid, honest, and utterly reliable all-rounder. It does everything \u2013 scratching, touring and commuting \u2013 better than well, and nothing at all poorly. Unless you\u2019re missing a hand. Then not so much.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The paint, does it glisten?<\/strong><br \/>\nLike the tears of a clown who has had a trapeze artist fall on him. And you can get it in glistening all-black if you\u2019re a Goth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are the waves of torque creamy?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, there\u2019s just over 80Nm of surf here, pilgrim, and every one of those waves is rich, like fresh buttermilk. MT donks are all about useable torque, but you knew that, right?
